The top of Cape Breton Island welcomes you with friendly staff, charming cottages and delicious, locally sourced cuisine!
Thank you for a wonderful season. We kicked off the year with a music fest and ended the year with ... a music fest. Lots of fabulous memories in between. Thank you for visiting and we look forward to welcoming you in 2025!
The Markland is perfectly located. Situated on over 60 acres on the most northern tip of Cape Breton Island overlooking the Atlantic ocean, you really can't ask for a more breath taking spot to vacation. With 27 charming cabins and self-contained cottages, a secluded beach framed by the mountains in the back and the wild seas in front, and a welcoming staff that takes pride in showcasing their Cape Breton home, the Markland is a true gem.
Our restaurant is a destination in itself. Open 7 days a week, from 5pm to 9pm, we celebrate the best of Cape Breton with halibut, lobster, crab, and salmon not to mention the mussels, the pasta, the bannock bread, and pies. Everything is homemade with recipes handed down through generations. The complimentary breakfast is a favourite among our guests ... a happy start to a full day.
Guests have access to our kilometer long beach and sandy shore, a simply breathtaking stretch of unspoiled and pristine ocean front. Nature truly comes alive here where the mountains touch the sea. These inviting surroundings will replenish and nourish your soul at a time when we all need to get outdoors and simply be.
